Protect accuracy as well as uptime

A CNC can keep making parts while accuracy quietly drifts. Pair cleaning and lubrication tasks with condition checks such as tool-change behavior, surface finish, spindle noise, and repeatability.

Coolant concentration and contamination affect tools, finishes, pumps, and operator health. Record the measured concentration instead of relying only on appearance.

Machine builders specify different lubricants, warm-up routines, filter intervals, and geometry checks. Use the OEM manual as the controlling requirement and adapt this checklist to the model.

Typical operator checks include fluids, air pressure, warm-up, chip removal, coolant condition, leaks, alarms, and unusual noise. Keep service-panel work with trained maintenance personnel.

How often should CNC geometry be checked?

Base the interval on machine criticality, tolerance requirements, crash history, and builder guidance. Many shops also trigger a check after a crash, relocation, or unexplained quality drift.

Should coolant checks be part of machine PM?

Yes. Concentration, contamination, tramp oil, and sump condition directly affect tool life, corrosion, finish quality, odors, and coolant-system reliability.
